Research

Forest Ecology, emphasis in dendrochronology of temperate and tropical forests. I develop my research in dendrochronology, dendroecology, and dendroclimatology, and have experience working in tropical and temperate forests. I work actively in the Amazon basin, developing tree ring chronologies from remote areas to reconstruct the past climate variability and to understand stand dynamics in the Amazon rainforest. I'm now starting new projects in the hardwood forests in Alabama and will have opportunities for students who want to gain more experience in this field, at an undergraduate or graduate level.

Area of Expertise and/or Research: Wood anatomy, dendrochronology especially dendroecology, dendroclimatology and historical climatology focused on different research questions, using time series to understand how the forest works.
