Teaching Students with ADHD Applying Theories of Psychology and Learning Styles

This workshop focuses primarily on non-medical approaches and strategies to use either as a supplement to medication or for those parents who do not want their children on medication. Psychological and learning style techniques are shared. Individuals with ADHD are conceptualized as high kinesthetic and/or tactile learners. Designed for parents and teachers, and other individuals who work with persons with ADHD; and for adults with ADHD in the work place.

Becoming or Enhancing Multicultural Proficiency: A Legal and Professional Issue

This workshop addresses dimensions of diversity in institutions of learning, corporations, and other agencies. The knowledge, skills, and dimensions will reduce litigious situations in these agencies and promote effective interactions and service to individuals who are different in race/ethnicity, gender, age, and other dimensions of diversity.

Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (Visual Dyslexia): A Learning Disability Factor

This workshop addresses the academic difficulties in a high percentage of students who have severe reading problems. These individuals have average to above average intellect as measured by formal I.Q. tests and they have 20/20 vision as examined by an opthamologist or optometrist. Letters and words shake, move, and roll of the page; and some students cannot read at all even though they can orally answer questions from materials they hear.

The Assessment, Interpretation, and Use of Teaching Style Data

Teachers (K-university level) may take the Teaching Style Inventory (TSI) which is online and score it. A workshop is designed to assist in interpreting the data and exploring the use of the data in teaching students in a class consisting of various learning styles. The emphasis is on how a teacher can teach all students in a class according to their learning style (and leaving no learner behind in learning the best they can).

The Assessment, Interpretation, and Use of Learning Style Data

Students will take the learning style inventory (LSI, there is a charge for the instrument and the scoring). A workshop is designed to interpret the data for learners. If a student know how he or she learns best, regardless of how well or not a teacher teaches, the student will learn best. Every learner needs to know under what conditions s/he learns best or work best in the world of work.

Do you feel comfortable in expressing your opinion, your anger, or stand up for your rights in a socially acceptable manner? Did you know that your boss as well as you have the same ‘god-given” rights? Did you know that regardless of race/ethnicity, gender, or age you have the same rights? You can express both negative and positive emotions in a manner that is healthy medically, psychologically, socially, and in other ways.
