Welcome to the Department of Engineering, Construction Management and Industrial Technology (ECMIT)
Our students, faculty and staff come from diverse cultural backgrounds, ethnicity and geographical locations. Our mission is to educate students and provide them with practical and professional training to ensure that graduates are accomplished in the technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration skills necessary to excel as workers, managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs in local industries and in a competitive global economy. We have a unique mentoring system that ensures each student has both an academic mentor and mentor(s) from relevant industries and government facilities/laboratories. Our mentoring system also provides serves in career develop, job search, and scholarships. We have several programs that place students in paid summer internships and industrial co-ops, to further build their careers and engage in hands-on training and professional experiences.
We offer four Bachelor of Science degrees, each in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, and Industrial Technology. We also offer a Master of Science degree in Industrial Technology with specializations in Industrial Management, Manufacturing Systems Management, Quality Assurance, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. The Electrical Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. We are continuously enhancing our curricula to expand to emerging technologies and areas of national needs, including energy, green technology, healthcare technologies, national security, robotics, nuclear technologies, heavy construction and safety. We prepare students for professional certifications, including OSHA, Project Management, and CISCO certifications.
