National Drug Take-Back Day

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System at AAMU is collaborating with Partnership for a Drug-Free Community for National Drug Take-Back Day. You can also make a difference in our community by participating in a drug take-back drive.
More than 27,000 pounds of outdated or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications have been collected at community take-back events since area law enforcement began the effort in September 2010. You can help by dropping off any unwanted or unused prescription or over-the-counter medication for humans or animals. Removing unwanted drugs from your home will keep them out of the hands of children or teens.
Several drug take-back drives will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Note: Before dropping off medications, please remove all identifiable information from the medication bottles using a black marker or by removing the labels. Or, simply combine all of the unwanted medication in one bag for disposal.
Social distancing will be in place. Drop off is quick and anonymous.
