Alabama Extension’s Successful Aging Initiative (SAI) Conference is the ideal occasion to learn about the latest resources available for older adults in Alabama.
This year's theme, Bloom! Don’t Wither – Aging Means Living, celebrates the vitality, beauty, and growth that come with aging. Rather than viewing growing older as a time of decline, we embrace it as a season to flourish.

This year’s conference will also feature a free legal clinic, presented by Legal Services Alabama, to provide counsel and advice to participants on civil legal issues, including estate planning, housing, heirs' property, elder abuse and neglect, among others.

- Bring a canned good to donate to a local food bank.
- Want to get rid of unused medication, electronics, or paper lying around your home before the holidays? Stop by the SAI Conference on Oct. 2 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Drive through, and a volunteer will unload your car. Bring electronic devices (laptop or desktop computers, monitors, printers, TVs, tablets, cell phones, etc.). Also accepting paper documents that need shredding. In addition, Alabama Extension staff and partners, including law enforcement officers, will be on location to take prescription or over-the-counter medication for humans or pets.
