Dr. Brown

Dr. Jessica Brown serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Leadership & Engagement at Alabama A&M University, where she provides strategic oversight for student engagement initiatives, leadership development, campus programming, and student success efforts. With more than a decade of experience in higher education and student affairs, she is committed to cultivating supportive environments that foster belonging, leadership growth, and holistic student development.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Brown served as Director of the Office of Student Activities & Leadership Development at AAMU, Assistant Director of Student Activities and Coordinator of Student Activities at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Community Director at the University of South Alabama. Throughout her career, she has led large-scale campus traditions, developed innovative first-year and leadership programs, and supervised professional staff teams while advancing initiatives that support student success and engagement.

Dr. Brown holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of South Alabama, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stillman College. She is an active member in national professional organizations including NASPA, NACA, NASAP, and SACSA. She currently serves as Co-Chair of NASPA's Womxn in Student Affairs Knowledge Community and a faculty member for the SACSA/NASPA Region III New Professionals Institute. She frequently presents at conferences on leadership development, student engagement, and professional growth. Her work centers on empowering students and professionals to lead with purpose, authenticity, and excellence.
