Research Experiences for Undergraduates
Welcome to Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU).
The broadest set of research opportunities for undergraduates is through the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Through this program, universities across the country host students with an interest in their particular science (STEM) focus. Each university provides a generous stipend plus travel and accommodations for an 8-10 week summer research program. These programs provide instruction and hand's on training with a primary mentor. These programs are competitive. However, ask your campus mentor or favorite professor to assist you if you find a program (or several—better to apply for more than one!) that you are interested in.
The Research Experiences for Undergraduates program is funded through the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (grant No. 2009-51160-05462 and No. 2013-38821-21250) and the National Science Foundation (grant # 1063101).
