Gardens & Composting - Online

Join the Virginia Caples Lifelong Learning Institute to learn some gardening tips.
Session Topics:
Composting, the “rot” thing to do!
Are you uncertain what to do with your garden, kitchen, and yard waste? Would you like natural, homemade compost for your lawn and garden? Then join the VCLLI and explore compost bin options, how to set up and manage a pile, the benefits and uses of composting, and much, much more.
Don't Scrap It, Plant It!
It’s environmentally friendly, can save you money on your grocery bill, and is the ultimate in recycling. What are we talking about here? Kitchen Scraps Gardening! Take part in investigating growing tasty, healthy produce with kitchen scraps. From lettuce and onions to potatoes and ginger root, scraps often have plenty of life left. They just need a chance to avoid your trash can.
Be Cool with Fall Container Gardening
Bugs, constant watering, gnats, heat and humidity, and not to mention weeding. Sound familiar? While summer is typically considered the season for the classic vegetable garden, the cool temperatures of fall present fewer challenges for plants and gardeners. Join us as we examine cool-season edibles that would never grow happily under warmer conditions but thrive in cooler and even cold weather in fall vegetable gardens.
