Biological Sciences encompass an extensive array of disciplines- from microbiology to genetics, to ecology to evolutionary biology and so much more. It's a field that is constantly evolving, thereby offering us new insights and solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing our world. We invite you to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery with us with a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Biology.
We offer an array of undergraduate concentrations to include Pre-Professional Health, Pre-Nursing, Environmental Health. We offer graduate concentrations in Microbiology, Physiology, Genetics & Molecular Biology, Ecology and Systematics, and Entomology

ABOUT US
The primary mission of the Department of Biological Sciences is to educate students in the fundamentals of problem solving in biological sciences through the integration of teaching and research. The program has established a strong instructional and research unit that fosters comprehensive theoretical and practical training that adequately prepares students for positions in industry, public, and private sectors.
Diverse Issues in Higher Education ranked AAMU in the top 10 for producers of African-American graduates in Biological Sciences in the nation. Our program has cooperative relationships with several professional degree programs across the state of Alabama including Physician’s Assistant, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical School, and Graduate-level programs.
