DATE: November 01, 2024
Kudos on reaching this milestone in your academic career; commencement is an important symbol of the university's core function as the conferring of degrees signifies long, hard work on the part of everyone involved: students, faculty, administrators, parents and spouses. As a consequence of the serious and dignified nature of the ceremony, students are expected to maintain a measure of decorum consonant with the occasion.
Alabama A&M University is committed to ensuring the highest level of dignity during commencement exercises. To this point, all graduates are expected to adhere to the following:
- Follow directions given by commencement marshals and other officials.
- Stepping, marching, dancing, or strolling by individuals or groups at any point during the ceremony is prohibited.
- Noisemaking devices, beach balls, air machines/horns, balloons, and banners are not permitted.
Pursuant to the Student Code of Conduct - - Offense(s) 1.80 (Disorderly, Obstruction, and/or Disruption) and 1.95 (Failure to Comply), graduates choosing not to abide by this agreement will be escorted out of the Arena and fined $500.00 - - payable prior to receiving diploma and/or official transcript.
