Center for CHIPs, Semiconductors, and Nanotechnology
The Center for CHIPS, Semiconductors, and Nanotechnology (CCSN) is a center of excellence. Its objective is to strengthen faculty and student research capacity while advancing research in CHIP design, semiconductor fabrication, and nanotechnology. AAMU is also a member of the HBCU CHIPS Network.
Center for Excellence in Forestry (COE)
Established in 1993, the USDA Forest Service Center of Excellence in Forestry at AAMU conducts research on upland hardwood forests, fire management, and forest ecology. It provides training and outreach to foster a diverse natural resources workforce and supports the only HBCU forestry program accredited by the Society of American Foresters.
Center for Nuclear Science and Engineering
The Center for Nuclear Science and Engineering works to advance nuclear research and workforce development. The Center strengthens AAMU's research in engineering, technology, and physical sciences.
Howard J. Foster Research and Innovation Center
The Howard J. Foster Research and Innovation Center is a premier research facility dedicated to materials science, specializing in irradiation, aerospace, and defense technologies. It houses the Center for Irradiation of Materials (CIM) and serves as the home for AAMU-RISE, supporting research, student training, NASA projects, and more.
Winfred Thomas Agricultural Research Station (WTARS)
Winfred Thomas Agricultural Research Station is a 900+ acre research facility that operates as a research, education, and outreach facility within AAMU’s College of Agricultural, Life and Natural Sciences. Research areas include crops, soil health, forestry, livestock, and farm development.
Small Farms Research Center (SFRC)
The Small Farms Research Center provides training and conducts interdisciplinary research on the economic and social development of limited-resource, new and beginning farmers and ranchers, and agribusiness entrepreneurs.
