AAMU Torchbearers raised over $2.8 million in the special campaign. Dr. Dorothy Huston, a strong supporter of the Department of Food & Animal Sciences set the pace for recognition of the greatness of Alabama A&M University. Come at donate at our page.

The CALNS celebrated the 135th Anniversary of the Second Morrill Act. The FAS family was well represented and had a great day marching in solidarity.

JULy 2025
AAMU Food Science faculty, students, and staff travelled to Chicago, IL to present, learn, and engage.
2 FAS graduate students won in the oral research competition (First Place - Katelyn Boyle-Product Development division)(Second Place - Harpreet Singh-Toxicology division) as well as others who were selected to present: Mariam Yakubu - 1 presentation (Food Toxicology-Dr. Boateng), Sai Vinay Madala - 1 presentation (Food Engineering-Dr Kassama), Karthik Medabalimi - 2 presentations (Nutritional Biochemistry-Dr. Verghese, Katelyn Boyle - 2 presentations (Nutritional Biochemistry and Product Development- Dr. Verghese), Harpreet Singh - 2 presentations (Nutritional Biochemistry -Dr. Verghese)

February 19, 2025, the AAMU Food Science faculty, students, and staff participated in the Southeastern Section of the IFT (SEIFT) Suppliers/Food Industry EXPO and Educational Program at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, GA. Madison Wright won third place in the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for "Consumer Perception of Natural and Synthetic Colors and Flavors: The Development of a Functional Mint-Based Beverage".

Dr. Josh Herring presented an educational seminar titled “Academic Contributions to Food Innovation WITH Edutainment”.
