The Tutor’s Role
Tutorial Assistance Network (TAN) tutors partner with students to help them gain a better understanding of course concepts. Tutors are most helpful when their students are able to identify the concepts they want to better understand. Tutors will not complete students’ homework assignments or projects.
The Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader’s Role
TAN SI leaders attend the class sessions of specific course sections and host course content review sessions each week. They use multiple resources to design collaborative learning activities which promote students' understanding of course information. SI leaders do not complete students’ homework assignments or projects.
The Structured Learning Assistance (SLA) Leader’s Role
TAN SLA leaders attend ENG 101E, HIS 101E and MTH 112E class sessions and host workshops and information review sessions to help students understand course information better. They use information from multiple resources to design SLA workshops that reinforce course content and facilitate learning. SLA leaders do not complete students’ homework assignments or projects.
