Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Welcome to the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the College of Engineering, Technology and Physical Sciences. Our department is focused on student learning and prepares them for the challenges and opportunities presented by our modern technical society. Within our department, we provide students with excellent learning opportunities, engaging research experiences and outstanding advising and mentoring.
The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is a diverse department offering strong academic programs. The department offers a bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with several minor program options. In addition, Physics has graduate programs (M.S. and Ph.D.) specializing in Materials Science, Optics/Lasers, Ambient Energy Systems, and Space Science. Students have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, instrumentation and computational facilities. The faculty within the Department work extremely hard at providing students with opportunities to pursue their academic and research goals.
The individual strengths of each program within the Department are found in their respective links:
We invite you to contact us and interact with our faculty, academic and research staff. We have various undergraduate and graduate student organizations such as SPS, Chemistry Club and Mathematics Club. We are a lively and coherent group of active scholars, involved in research and education. We benefit from the strength of other departments of the College of Engineering, Technology and Physical Sciences, the University, NASA/Marshal Space Flight Center and the scientific community at large.
