AAMU, Amazon MLU Join Forces to Prepare Faculty for AI Era

AAMU to Host Statewide HBCU Gathering on Artificial Intelligence
In a landmark move to position Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Historically Black Community Colleges (HBCCs) at the forefront of emerging technology, Alabama A&M University’s Division of Research and Economic Development will host “Voices of the Valley: MLU-Transformation Alliance Meeting” on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Ernest L. Knight Center.
The one-day gathering, presented in partnership with Amazon’s Machine Learning University (MLU), will unite faculty, executive administrators, and industry leaders in a collaborative push to expand artificial intelligence (AI) education, research, and workforce readiness across the state’s Black higher education institutions.
The program will feature two distinct tracks:
- Generative AI One-Day Intensive for Faculty – Designed to equip educators with the tools and knowledge to prepare students for industry-aligned AI/ML careers, while integrating cutting-edge content into more than 100 existing courses statewide.
- AI Capacity Building Convening for Executive Administrators – Focused on the societal and institutional impact of AI, the session will highlight MLU program resources, Amazon’s cloud computing capabilities, and strategies for expanding tech education infrastructure.
In addition to plenary discussions and hands-on learning, attendees will have opportunities to connect with peers and industry experts, fostering a statewide network dedicated to AI innovation. Continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided.
