Miss Arianna GeCora Fletcher

The 72nd Crowning Ceremony of Miss Alabama A&M University was held Friday, September 9, in the T.M. Elmore Building, honoring Miss Arianna GeCora Fletcher.   PHOTOS (Unofficial)

A native of Huntsville, Ala., Miss Fletcher is the daughter of Adrian and LaShonda Fletcher.  She was a well-rounded student athlete at Madison Academy, where she secured the school record in the high jump and won the Alabama State Championships of Track & Field, 4x100 event.  She also won the 4A Alabama Basketball State Championships for two consecutive years (2016-18).  Miss Fletcher has been active with her church, Triana Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America

The graduating AAMU senior is majoring in elementary education and plans to teach K-6 within the Huntsville area before pursuing graduate study.  Sheis actively participating in many organizations and has demonstrated great leadership skills.  Miss AAMU is a recipient of the Heritage Bronze Scholarship and has remained on Honor Roll with a 3.5 GPA.

The Royal Court includes Mphandi Phiri, Miss International; Amari Lee, Miss Senior, a early childhood education major from Chicago, Ill.; Kennedy Brown, Miss Junior, biology, Memphis, Tenn.; Faith Gatson, Miss Sophomore, marketing, Montgomery, Ala.; and Amber Parker, Miss Freshman, Mobile, Ala.  Serving at the Royal Escorts were Prosper Banda, International; Tolulope Oladipupo, Chicago, Ill.; Anthony Coleman, Montgomery, Ala.; McKelton Johnson, Nassau, The Bahamas; and Myles Jernigan, Hephzibah, Ga.

Special music was provided by Dr. Doris Spooner Hall, concert flutist; and Steven Todd Miller, concert harpist.  AAMU President Daniel K. Wims presented the royal scepter.  Other program participants included Janae McDowell, mistress of ceremonies; Jaila Green-Mascotti, SGA executive president; Nia Taylor Whitten, Miss Alabama A&M University 2021-22 and her escort Jakobie Forrest.
