Bandmaster Wright Releases NYC-Macy's Itinerary

After some long and careful planning, Alabama A&M University Director of Bands Carlton J. Wright recently shared the itinerary of the Marching Maroon and White Band for events prior to and following its performance in the 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

 

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2023

NEW YORK BOUND!

Arrive - Newark Liberty International Airport. Upon arrival, meet your tour escorts from  Performing Arts Consultants and check into the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel located at 500 Harbor Boulevard, Weehawken, NJ (201) 617-5600 

6:00 PM

Short walk along the waterfront to the Spirit of New York and/or the Spirit of New Jersey for dinner cruise around Manhattan Island followed by a DJ dance. Sail close to the Statue of Liberty, under the Brooklyn Bridge and up the Hudson and East River for views of the Manhattan skyline. 

7:00 PM

Welcome to NYC Dinner Cruise departs

9:30 PM

Dinner Cruise returns to dock.  Walk back to hotel.

 

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2023

Full American Breakfast at hotel.

9:00 AM

Board charter motorcoaches and depart hotel for 3-hour tour of New York City featuring
historic Harlem, Wall Street, the former sight of the World Trade Center, Central Park and so much more. Each motorcoach will have a certified NYC Tour Guide on board.

12:00 PM

Tour ends at the New York Hard Rock Café, where lunch will be served.

1:30 PM

Depart the Hard Rock Café for a short walk to Radio City Music Hall.

2:00 PM

Enjoy the 2023 Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular featuring the world famous Rockettes.

3:30 PM

Depart Radio City Music Hall for Top of the Rock. Literally walk across the street to Rockefeller Center to visit Top of the Rock.

4:00 PM

Visit Top of the Rock!! Believe the hype. Nestled at the height of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Top of the Rock’s three levels of indoor and outdoor observation decks deliver spectacular, unobstructed views of the city skyline. Walk to 42nd Street for dinner at Dallas BBQ.

Depart hotel on charter motorcoaches for rehearsal in New Jersey.

9:00 AM

Indoor Marching band rehearsal.

11:30 AM

Depart rehearsal facility for lunch at Planet Hollywood on 42nd Street. If using an equipment truck, please transfer all marching band instruments and equipment into the undercarriage of charter buses.

12:00 PM

Lunch at Planet Hollywood.

2:00 PM

Enjoy the hit Disney Broadway Show – Lion King

4:00 PM

Depart NYC for Carpaccio’s at the American Dream.

5:00 PM

Italian Buffet Dinner at Carpaccio located in the new American Dream attraction at the Meadowlands.

Arrive Central Park West at the staging area of the 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

9:00 AM

2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade steps-off.

12:15 PM

Tour escorts will meet Band at the end of the parade route and walk everyone to charter
motorcoaches. Remember to pick up your box lunch as you prepare to depart for your hotel.

1:00 PM

Arrive at hotel and get some rest after a long morning in New York City.

6:30 PM

Depart hotel for the Chart House for your special Thanksgiving Dinner buffet.
