Homecoming 2022 Recap

Another has come and gone.

There are so many pieces that somehow pull themselves together to form a magical Homecoming experience. That happened again on The Hill on a picture-perfect day, and the win over Bethune Cookman University sealed the deal!

From the multiple events masterfully planned by Student Activities to the chaotic precision of the Game Day, Homecoming 2022, too, will be long remembered. There was the Wreath Laying Ceremony and in honor of founder William Hooper Councill and the subsequent $10,000 check from a host of Prince Hall Masons.  The annual Day Party featuring home-grown talent and up-and-coming performers, along with the legendary Vivian Green and Lyfe Jennings, drew thousands to The Quad.  

Throughout the week, alumni and friends were gearing up to show their spirit and love in other ways.  Among the week's check presentations (most presented at halftime Saturday, Oct. 1) were the following:  Alabama Power - $25,000; Regions Bank - $35,000; Scientific Research Corporation, $165,000; The Drs. George & Bessie Jones Scholarship Fund, $28,275; AAMU Greater Mobile Alumni Chapter, $50,710.00; and The 1972 Golden Class, $229,885.
