Online Comp-Sci Master's Makes the Grade

The state’s oldest computer science program recently received additional accolades from a popular California-based website whose aims is to assist prospective college students in making wise educational decisions.

The computer science graduate degree at Alabama A&M University ranked 16th among the Top 20 best online master’s programs in the nation, according to Learn.org.  For nearly 20 years, Learn.org has helped students to research potential schools, degrees and careers.

“This list of the Best Online Master's in Computer Science Degree Programs will help our users and potential students learn about your school's excellent offerings,” wrote Learn.org in an e-mail to Dr. Jian Fu, professor and head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.  Learn.org is located in Mountain View, Calif.

To compile the list, Learn.org considered hundreds of universities throughout the country and selected AAMU based on academic and career resources, the quality of education, faculty, and other factors.

The Top 20 includes Colorado State University (No. 1), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Purdue University, University of Massachusetts and others.  Georgia Institute of Technology ranked 20th.
