First Lady's Scholarship Initiative Oct. 23
Tenth Anniversary Celebration
The Tenth Annual First Lady’s Scholarship Luncheon has been slated for Saturday, October 23, at 11 a.m. in the Ernest L. Knight Center on the Alabama A&M University campus.
The activity celebrates the life and legacy of AAMU’s first ladies and raises funds for deserving students who exemplify the spirit of the University founder, Dr. William Hooper Councill.
The cost of the luncheon tickets for a reserved table of 10 is $600; individual tickets are $50 per person for general seating. Tickets may be purchased from Felicia Wilson, co-chair, by calling (256) 372-5715. The luncheon will feature special tributes honoring the nine First Ladies of the University: Mrs. Councill, Mrs. Buchanan, Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Drake, Mrs. Morrison, Mrs. Covington, Mrs. Henson, Mrs. Gibson and Mrs. Hugine, the current and only surviving First Lady of the University, who will be retiring December 2021, along with her husband, the 11th President of Alabama A&M University, Dr. Andrew Hugine, Jr.
During the luncheon, the First Lady’s Scholarships will be awarded to 10 undergraduate and graduate students from each of the four colleges of the university and the graduate school. Thanks to previous support, more than $250,000 has been raised for students.
