CRP Co-Sponsors Community Planning Month
In Partnership with City of Huntsville
The Department of Community and Regional Planning (DCRP) at Alabama A&M University and the City of Huntsville’s Planning Department are co-sponsoring several activities in celebration of National Community Planning Month in Huntsville, Ala.
As part of the observance, display boards will be presented at the Huntsville Public Library Main and the North Huntsville Public Library that showcase the planning profession, activities, programs and awareness throughout October.
On October 16 at the North Huntsville Library, youth are encouraged to participate in Kidstropolis. There are two main activities for this event: (1) the Farmer’s Market Stand for elementary school students, and (2) Battle of the Cities Competition for middle and high school students. For more information about the event, please visit the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library website. Opening remarks will be presented by Councilman Devyn Keith.
DCRP and Huntsville’s Planning Department will co-sponsor a request to the City of Huntsville to designate October 2021 as Community Planning Month in conjunction with the celebration of National Community Planning Month.
This designation will highlight the contributions sound planning and plan implementation make to the quality of neighborhoods and environment. It also will publicly acknowledge the participation and dedication of the members of planning commissions and other citizen planners who have contributed their time and expertise to the improvement of the City of Huntsville.
