3-Step Approach New Pipeline to Minority STEM-DoD Professionals
Sessions Provide Info on DoD Modernization Priorities
Steps 1 and 2 of the first year of the three-year, three-step NDEP (National Defense Education Program) STEM Program have been successfully completed.
Forty (40) students received Certificates of Completion, along with $1,000 stipends, for successfully completing Step 1 (twice weekly virtual lecture/workshop sessions to impart knowledge on DoD Modernization Priorities and to improve and enhance students' career readiness skills). Twenty-nine (29) students received Certificates of Completion, along with $6,000 stipends, for successfully completing Step 2 (hands-on, 8-week summer internship with Alabama A&M University-based faculty mentors involved in DoD Modernization Priority areas).
The students who successfully completed Step 2 are being considered for Step 3 (DoD Internships and employment). Students’ resumes are being reviewed by several DoD Agencies. Step 1 of Year-2, which will include students from Navajo Technical University and University of Houston, Victoria, begins soon.
