Stevia and Turmeric Workshop Set for "The Farm"
Open to Public
Sometimes, you have to take the bitter with the sweet. Alabama A&M University crop scientists hope to give you a dose of both Saturday, January 28, at an all-day Stevia and Turmeric Field Day and Workshop.
The 9 a.m. workshop is preceded by registration (8:15 a.m.) on A&M’s thousand-acre Winfred Thomas Agricultural Research Station in Hazel Green, Ala.
The program will open with remarks from Dr. Denis Ebodaghe, national program leader, USDA’s NIFA-AFRI; Dr. Crystal Kyle, biological science specialist, NIFA-AFR; and University officials and faculty. The morning session will focus on stevia and its production in Georgia and Alabama.
The second session on turmeric will include a pre-lunch tour to research plots and harvesting demonstrations, along with focus on research, marketing and production.
