AAMU Welcomes Experienced Executive-Level Administrator
Kadhi Named Associate VP for Academic Administration, Dean of Graduate Studies
The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Alabama A&M University, Dr. John D. Jones, and the Search Committee for the Associate Vice President for Academic Administration and Dean of Graduate Studies has selected Dr. Tau Kadhi to lead the Office of Graduate Studies, effective January 1, 2024.
He is a former Professor of Mathematics, Mathematics Programs Coordinator, Special Assistant for Academic Affairs, and Vice Provost for Institutional Planning and Quality at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Previously, Dr. Tau Kadhi was a Professor and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at Albany State University (ASU) in Albany, GA. Before being named the Associate Provost, he served as the Director of Data, Assessment, and Accreditation for The School of Education at ASU. Also, he served as the first Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for the newly consolidated ASU.
Before ASU, he was the Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Undergraduate Research at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in Durham, NC. He served as the Assistant Vice President for Learning Assessment at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in Canyon, Texas. Before WTAMU, he was the first Executive Director and Campus Dean of the Northwest Campus at Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston, Texas, after serving as the first Director of Assessment at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
In addition to his experience as an executive-level administrator, leader, and data-informed decision expert, Dr. Kadhi served, for 13 years, honorably in the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps Reserve, and the Texas Army National Guard and is a war veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He earned a B.S. in applied mathematics, an M.S.Ed. in mathematics curriculum and instruction, an M.S. in applied mathematics from Prairie View A&M University, an M.B.A. from Texas Southern University, and a Ph.D. in mathematics curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M University. He is the father of a girl and a boy named Terri and Joshua, respectively.
