New Dual Enrollment Program Aims to Boost Huntsville City Schools Student Achievement

Alabama A&M University and Huntsville City Schools have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Dual Enrollment Program. Beginning this fall, the program promises to enhance pathways to higher education for HCS students and boost student achievement.

“This is only the beginning of the great things you’ll see from this partnership between our district and this University,” said Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Clarence Sutton. “We’re committed to working together to provide excellent opportunities for all students.”

Under the new partnership, Alabama A&M University will offer college-level credits through courses taught by University faculty.

“The greatest benefit is how we will contribute to student learning,” said AAMU Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. John Jones. “There has always been a concern about students’ writing ability when they leave high school and come to a post-secondary institution. I see this as an opportunity for us to actually do something about it. We’re preparing students to engage critical thinking and enhance writing ability.”
