AAMU’s Kidd Among 38 HBCU and Business Leaders Selected
Kidd Named to Higher Education Leadership Foundation Cohort
Dr. Selicia Hughes Kidd, Director of Testing Services at AAMU, was selected to the Higher Education Leadership Foundation (H.E.L.F.) Leadership Institute, Xi Cohort.
H.E.L.F. provides innovative learning and mentoring opportunities for aspiring leaders at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Kidd and her cohort will attend the H.E.L.F. Institute December 7–10, 2023, at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.
“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to have a seat at the table. When I perused the caliber of talent invited, I became more ecstatic about my selection,” says Kidd. “I completed the H.E.L.F. application online and two days later, Wiley College President, Dr. Herman J. Felton sent an email message that ‘I was in!’”
Kidd has been a member of the Bulldog family since 2014 and has over 20 years of experience in higher education managing retention, academic support, and first year instruction for freshman in STEM.
The New Orleans native has a history degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, a Master’s in Public Administration from Troy University and an EdD in Educational Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University.
“With my professional experiences at both HBCUs and PWIs, I am eager to participate in transparent discussions with higher education change agents ready to think outside the box. I am ready to set goals and engage in innovative ways to help sustain our unique historically, black institutions of learning, as well as discuss challenges Black women face pursuing leadership roles. I welcome the opportunity to bring what I learn back to the Hill as a sought-out leader.”
