AAMU DPS Has Permanent Drop Box
April 27 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
The DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 27. The Madison County Sheriff's Office, Huntsville and Madison City Police, and the Partnership for a Drug Free Community, a partner of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Alabama A&M University, have designated three sites in Madison County where the public can drop off unused and over-the-counter medication from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., as follows:
Huntsville Public Safety Complex – 815 Wheeler Avenue, Huntsville, AL
Madison City Hall – 100 Hughes Road, Madison, AL
CVS Meridianville – 12275 U.S. Highway 231, Meridianville, AL
Drop off of unwanted medication is also available any day of the week at the AAMU Department of Public Safety (DPS) main lobby - 453 Buchanan Way, Huntsville, AL.
Alabama Extension says tossing unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medication in the trash is easy, but harmful to the environment. Drugs that end up in public landfills can make their way into our water systems and have other harmful impacts.
