Lindberg Reps AAMU at Harvard
Immersive Music Business Courses Hope to Create Pipeline for Minorities in Industry
Amid the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, rapper IDK’s No Label Academy (NLA) music business curriculum returned to Harvard University in Cambridge, MA for its second iteration. The program brings minority students from around the country to learn executive leadership, marketing, and artistry in the music industry.
AAMU '22 alumnus Justin Lindberg recently completed the course. A Chicago, IL native, Lindberg was one of 22 students selected nationwide to attend the seminar August 19 – 27.
According to the No Label Academy website, IDK partners with multiple brands and a unique set of speakers to construct the comprehensive 10-day music course focused on building a pipeline for BIPOC talent to kickstart their music careers, democratizing and reframing what is attainable in the industry. This year’s program was in partnership with brands like NIKE Inc., Jordan, Converse, Sony Music Group and Dior.
Lindberg was a two-year Boeing Thurgood Marshall College Fund Scholar during his time on The Hill. He says the carefully-curated NLA program provided exposure to all aspects of the music business.
“I was thrilled to find out I was part of IDK's No Label Class of 2023,” said Lindberg. “I spent time with some legends and learned how to create campaigns, content, and become a revolutionary art director in the music space.”
The immersive, hands-on course, offers advice, resources, job opportunities, and internships
to help students pursue their dreams in the highly competitive music industry.
