Assistant Principal Howard Helping Students Learn about AAMU
Howard Represents AAMU at College Night in Germany
Alabama A&M University alumna Dr. Brandi Howard ‘10 recently donned her maroon and white and presented information about Alabama A&M University at College Night in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Each year the U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz School Liaison Office partners with the community to host College Night for military-connected families in the Kaiserslautern Military Community. Students are able to receive information from alumni and representatives from various colleges and universities. Howard says 44 colleges and universities were represented at this year’s event, and she was excited to share what AAMU has to offer.
“Representing AAMU gives me an opportunity to introduce families to this historic university and its academic programs, sports, and student organizations," said Howard. "I’m always excited to represent my alma mater.”
The New Brockton, Alabama, native earned her elementary education degree at AAMU, a master’s from the University of West Alabama and a doctorate in administration of supervision and curriculum from Auburn University. She is now the assistant principal of Ramstein Elementary School.
“Before moving to Germany, I was an educator for the Department of Defense Education Activity in the Americas Southeast District. There was an opportunity for me to transition from teacher to school leader in Germany. I applied for an assistant principal position, was selected, and relocated to Germany in September of 2021.”
Howard says living in Germany allows her to continue supporting military families as well as experience European culture.
“I’ve extended my professional network and made life-long friends," she said. "This experience, however, showed me the importance of extending our recruiting efforts outside of the United States, and I’m happy to help do that.”
