Bulldogs Celebrate HBCU Culture and Tradition Ahead of Football Matchup

Gulf Coast Challenge Brings HBCU Pride to Mobile

The Gulf Coast Challenge brought the excitement, culture and school spirit of Alabama A&M University and Jackson State University to Mobile as the two historic HBCUs prepared to meet on the football field.
Students, alumni, fans and supporters from both universities came together for a weekend celebrating the traditions and pride of the HBCU experience.
The energy of both schools was on display as fans gathered to represent their universities. Cheerleaders from Alabama A&M and Jackson State performed for the crowd, showcasing their talent and school spirit while adding to the excitement surrounding the weekend.

Alumni from both universities also traveled to Mobile to support their schools and reconnect with members of the HBCU community. Fans proudly represented their universities through school colors and apparel, creating an atmosphere filled with Bulldog and Tiger pride.
HBCU Fest, one of the Gulf Coast Challenge weekend’s signature events, was held Friday, Oct. 2, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The celebration featured Southern hip-hop artists Juvenile and Webbie, who performed for fans as part of an evening combining music, entertainment and HBCU culture. Alabama A&M cheerleaders joined Webbie onstage during his performance, adding even more Bulldog spirit to the celebration.

The weekend extended beyond football and music, with activities including a fashion show, step show and other events highlighting the creativity and traditions associated with the HBCU experience.
As Alabama A&M and Jackson State prepared to face each other, the Gulf Coast Challenge brought together students, alumni, families and fans while showcasing a college football tradition that extends well beyond the four quarters of the game.
From cheerleaders and alumni to cultural events and live performances, the Gulf Coast Challenge celebrated the community, history and school pride surrounding HBCU football.
