AAMU Choir to Perform at Huntsville Black History Month Concert

The Alabama A&M University Choir will lend its powerful voice to the City of Huntsville’s Black History Month celebration as part of “Voices of Hope and Power,” a free community choral concert on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Cavalry Hill Community Center.

Hosted by the Huntsville Music Office in partnership with Huntsville Parks and Recreation, the concert brings together choirs from across the city to honor Black history through music, unity and cultural expression.

Now in its second year, the event will also feature performances by Oakwood University’s Dynamic Praise choir, and choirs from Lee High School and Jemison High School, highlighting the depth and diversity of Huntsville’s choral tradition.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the program beginning at 6 p.m. The concert will be held in the theater at Cavalry Hill Community Center and is free and open to the public. Last year’s inaugural event was held at the Dr. Richard Showers Sr. Recreation Center and drew a strong community response, reinforcing the concert’s mission of bringing people together through shared history and song.

For the Alabama A&M University Choir, participation in the event reflects the University’s longstanding commitment to cultural leadership, artistic excellence and community engagement.

“The Alabama A&M University Choir is thrilled to once again take part in this meaningful community celebration that highlights Black history, culture and the unifying power of music,” said Dr. Horace Carney, longtime director of the University Choir. “Events like this allow us to connect beyond campus and share our voice in a way that inspires, uplifts and honors the legacy we all share.”
