Two-Time AAMU Alumna Lands Role at Super Bowl

Jaycie Coleman has spent the last week in Las Vegas welcoming fans to Super Bowl LVIII. This Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs battle for the Vince Lombardi Trophy and some Bulldogs are working behind the scenes to make it happen. Coleman is serving as a gameday teammate for the Super Bowl Experience.

“The NFL has taken over Mandalay Bay South Convention Center from February 7 – 10 for The Super Bowl Experience," she says. "It’s like an NFL Theme Park. There are interactive games like the 40-yard dash, visitors can get player autographs and take photos with the Super Bowl Rings and Vince Lombardi Trophy. It’s the ultimate Super Bowl experience.”

Coleman, who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications Media at AAMU in 2021 and Master of Science in Communications Specialist in 2023, gained the Super Bowl opportunity after completing an internship with The Dream Foundation, a sports business mentorship program for underrepresented groups. Coleman was one of 40 students from HBCUs across the country selected for the foundation’s Fall 2023 Cohort.

“Each student participated in a Bowl game," she said. "I was selected to work in operations at the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl between Jacksonville State and Louisiana-Lafayette at the Caesars Superdome.”

Coleman also got to work media operations at the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship and was on the field for Michigan's 34-13 title win over Washington last month at NRG Stadium in Houston.

“The atmosphere at both games was exceptional,” says Coleman. “New Orleans was intense and exciting. In Houston, the crowd’s anticipation and active involvement added another layer of excitement, making it truly an unforgettable experience.”

Coleman says her education at AAMU has opened doors for her, but the journey is about stepping through those doors and taking advantage of opportunities.

“The fellowship, networking and hands-on experience will help me achieve my ultimate goal of a successful career in sports,” says Coleman. “I’m waiting to hear back from some next steps, but right now I'm excited to welcome fans to Las Vegas and can’t wait to experience my very first Super Bowl!”
