New Grant to Support Artificial Intelligence Research
U.S. Department of Defense Awards AAMU $185,000 Grant to Enhance Research
Alabama A&M has received a $185,000 Department of Defense (DoD) grant for research in the trusted artificial intelligence priority area. The grant is made under the FY 2023 DoD Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU/MSI) Science Program.
Awardees include 12 HBCUs and 38 MSIs across 18 states and the District of Columbia. Dr. Israel Ncube leads AAMU’s project: Equivariant Hopf Bifurcation in Symmetric Artificial Neuronal Networks Characterized by Multiple Unbounded Distributed Time Delays.
“Dr. Ncube’s successful grant not only contributes to the advancement of scientific knowledge but also presents valuable opportunities for talented mathematics majors to engage in this cutting-edge project,” said Associate Dean and Chairperson Dr. Padmaja Guggilla. “We encourage students with strong mathematics skills to connect with Dr. Ncube for potential involvement in this exciting endeavor.”
The awardees will conduct four-year research projects in scientific disciplines of critical importance to DoD, spanning advanced computing, biosciences, quantum sciences, renewable energy generation and storage, and trusted artificial intelligence and autonomy. Award funding over the four-year project period is subject to satisfactory research progress and the availability of funds.
