Grammy Award Winning Vocalist to Take the Stage at Homecoming
Leandria Johnson to Headline 2024 Homecoming Gospel Explosion
Grammy-winning artist Leandria Johnson is headlining entertainment at the 2024 Alabama A&M Homecoming Gospel Explosion. The Gospel singer and winner of the third season of BET’s “Sunday Best” has made her mark in the music industry. In addition to winning a Grammy, she is a two-time Stellar Gospel Music Award winner and was Billboard magazine’s #1 Female Gospel Artist of the Year in 2012.
The daughter of a preacher, Johnson had sung in front of her father’s congregations since she was two years old, but had hardly considered a professional career as a singer. She arrived at her Sunday Best audition with little time to spare, and wearing flip flops and the clothes she drove there in. The vocal powerhouse wowed judges and the rest is history.
