Enhancements to Benefit Students and Community
Student Health & Wellness Center Undergoes Renovations
The Student Health & Wellness Center, a vital campus hub built in 2010, is undergoing several renovations. The center, featuring a swimming pool, gymnasium, cardio area, and health facilities, is open to the entire community and has played a crucial role in public health efforts.
This summer, several projects are helping maintain the facility's impact on creating a healthy campus community and beyond. Facilities Director Willie Hayes says new HVAC systems have been installed in the bowling alley and downstairs gymnasium, which houses two basketball courts and serves as a site for public vaccinations and voting.
“The HVAC renovations will significantly enhance everyone's experience,” says Hayes.
“Our goal is to provide a comfortable environment with fully functional equipment.”
In addition to HVAC upgrades, the gymnasium, bowling alley, and upstairs walking track
have been repainted. The bowling alley is also being upgraded with six new lanes,
new carpeting, and fresh paint. The Cardio Training Area upstairs, accessible to the
public through membership, is being updated with six new Peloton bikes and repainted
in maroon and white.
The center also includes an outdoor beach volleyball court, three racquetball courts,
three multi-purpose activity rooms, a weight room, locker rooms with showers, three
aerobics classrooms, a Juice Bar, and free WiFi.
