Events Include Recruiters, Resume Reviews, and an Elevator Pitch Competition

The Alabama A&M Office of Career Development Services (CDS) is excited to kick off the Spring 2025 semester with Career Preparedness Week, a dynamic series of events designed to help students enhance their professional skills, connect with recruiters, and learn about internships, co-ops and full-time career opportunities. Events include virtual and in-person sessions January 14–16.

Event Schedule and Highlights

Tuesday, January 14: Meet the Sponsors + Industry & Government Cluster

• Location: Welcome Center, 1^st Floor Conference Room
• Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
• Details: Students can meet recruiters, network, and get a free professional headshot. Business professional attire is required for headshots, and the event is first-come, first-served.

Wednesday, January 15: Resume Reviews + Mock Interviews

• Location: Welcome Center, 1^st Floor Conference Room and Zoom
• Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
• Details: Students will receive personalized feedback on their resumes and practice interview skills with employers. Sessions are 20 minutes each and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Business casual attire is encouraged, but all students are welcome.

Thursday, January 16: Virtual "Shoot Your Shot" Elevator Pitch Competition

• Location: Zoom
• Time: Round One: 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Finals: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
• Details: This exciting solo competition challenges students to deliver a 30-second elevator pitch to a panel of judges. Finalist pitches will be recorded, and the winners’ videos will be shared on social media. Business professional attire is recommended.
• Prizes:
• 1st Place: $500
• 2nd Place: $250
• 3rd Place: $150
• Winner Announcement: 4:30 – 5:00 p.m.
