Jones Has More Than 25 Years of Experience in Higher Education

The Vice President of Business and Finance, Carlton Spellman, and the Search Committee for the Comptroller have selected Mrs. Joanne Jones to lead the Comptroller’s Office, effective January 1, 2024. Jones has held several senior level accounting positions in higher education, most recently serving as a Controller at Western Carolina University. Prior to assuming that role, Jones served as the University Controller at Winston-Salem State University.

 

Jones has over 25 years of progressive higher education experience, primarily within Controller divisions at several universities within the State of North Carolina. She has served as Project Manager providing oversight to various Ellucian Banner and associated entities and implementations. 

 

Jones holds a B.S. and M.S. degree in Accounting from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of North Carolina, and has also completed 96 hours of study in electrical engineering.
