Grammy-nominated R&B Singer, Songwriter, and Actor Coming to The Hill

AAMU Announces Mario as Guest Performer for Bulldog Choice Awards
Alabama A&M University will welcome Grammy-nominated R&B singer, songwriter, and actor
Mario as the special guest performer for the 2026 Bulldog Choice Awards, presented by the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement. The annual celebration
of student achievement and campus excellence will take place April 18 at 6:00 p.m.
at the AAMU Event Center.
Mario has cemented his legacy as one of the most influential voices in modern R&B.
He first rose to national prominence with his platinum 2002 debut and breakout hit
“Just a Friend 2002.” His career reached new heights with the Billboard Hot 100 No.
1 single “Let Me Love You,” which earned two Billboard Music Awards and a Grammy nomination,
solidifying his place among the defining R&B artists of his generation.
More than two decades into his career, Mario continues to shape the sound of contemporary
R&B. With multiple Top 10 singles and sustained chart success, he remains a powerful
presence in the genre. In 2025, he reignited excitement among fans with his viral
cover of Kehlani’s “Folded” and surprised audiences with a special appearance during
Drake’s Wireless Festival set earlier this year.
Praised for his timeless vocals and authentic storytelling, Mario continues to influence
a new generation of artists while remaining deeply rooted in the traditions of real
R&B.
The Bulldog Choice Awards highlight outstanding leadership, service, scholarship,
and student involvement across the Alabama A&M community. Additional event details
and announcements will be released soon.
