AAMU to Host Screening of NASA Documentary Celebrating Blacks in Space

The Color of Space, an inspirational documentary by NASA that tells the stories of Black Americans determined to reach the stars is coming to Alabama A&M. A screening of the documentary with NASA and Club for the Future will take place at the Event Center on Friday, Sept. 8, from 2-4 p.m.

Anchoring the 50-minute documentary is a powerful and thought-provoking conversation between seven current and former Black astronauts, each of whom were selected to become part of NASA’s astronaut corps and train for missions to space.

Club for the Future and Alabama A&M University are hosting this event in coordination with NASA to inspire future generations to pursue their dreams in science, technology, engineering, and exploration. The event will include pre-screening activities at 2 p.m. followed by the documentary screening at 3 p.m. Attendees can meet astronauts, climb into a Blue Origin space capsule, create postcards to fly to space and back, talk with NASA representatitives about internships and careers, and more.
