Bulldogs Converge on New York for Macy’s Parade Experience
NYC Reception Brings Together Alumni to Celebrate MMW
Alabama A&M supporters, alumni, and friends gathered at Times Square’s Marriott Marquis to celebrate the occasion of the Marching Maroon and White’s performance in the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The reception, held Wednesday, brought together Bulldogs from far and near for food, fun, and a celebration of the MMW.
Special guests included Commissioner of Empire State Development - and daughter of Dr. Ernest Knight - Hope Knight. Commissioner Knight welcomed the Bulldog faithful and represented an AAMU legend.
“My father is one of Alabama A&M’s biggest fans and most enthusiastic supporters,”
she said. “Rest assured, if he were able to come to the parade, he would be one of
the loudest voices. He’d make sure everyone knew about that special institution on
The Hill.”
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade organizers anticipate more than 3 million viewers to
line the parade route in New York City. Another 20 million people are expected to
view the parade via television broadcasts around the globe.
“We’re very proud of all of our students at Alabama A&M,” said Sandra Stubbs, Director
of Alumni Affairs. “Tonight, we celebrate the rich heritage and bright future of our
beloved institution and our Marching Maroon and White Band.”
