Alumnus Supports Future Engineers with Generous Donation

Alxavier Peebles, an accomplished alumnus of Alabama A&M University, recently returned to his roots at the Bond Engineering Building, where he once walked the halls as a student. Now a Lead Cyber Systems Engineer at the Missile Defense Agency, Peebles donated school supplies to engineering students, aiming to ease their academic journey.

Peebles earned his electrical engineering degree from Alabama A&M in 2012 and returned for a master’s degree in computer science.

“I’m going to be honest," he said. "I wasn’t the top student in the class, nor did I look like it. It took some maturing in school to be the man I am today. Because of Alabama A&M University, I got exposed to much more than I was used to. I loved performing in the Marching Maroon and White Band and seeing all our students’ talents. It was a great experience I do not take for granted.”

Since his days at A&M, Peebles has built an impressive career, holding various roles, including System Engineer, Calibration Engineer, and Modeling and Simulation Engineer. For the past eight years, he has focused on the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity, where he continues to excel. Beyond his professional achievements, Peebles is also an entrepreneur. He founded a nonprofit organization called “The Next One Inc.,” inspired by his family.

“I started ‘The Next One Inc.’ in honor of my grandmothers, who stood firm for me to become more than what they saw," said Peebles. "Donating to anyone under the nonprofit, I pass my Grandmother Annie Lou Summerville’s words down for generations.
