Students Celebrate AAMU Spirit Ahead of Labor Day Weekend
Bulldog Pregame Rush Brings Spirit and Smiles to MLK Elementary

The halls of MLK Elementary School were filled with excitement, smiles and plenty of Bulldog pride Friday, Sept. 4, as students took part in the Bulldog Pregame Rush, a school spirit event organized through the Bulldogs Dreamers Initiative.
Ahead of the Labor Day weekend, students had an opportunity to show their Bulldog spirit and connect with Alabama A&M University volunteers. As students made their way out of class, they were greeted by volunteers who added a little extra Bulldog flair with face painting.
From the youngest students to the oldest elementary grades, students joined in the fun. Cheeks were painted, school colors were proudly displayed and smiles could be seen throughout the school. Many students wore their favorite Bulldog shirts and gear, turning the halls into a display of AAMU spirit.
Although the event was simple, its impact was anything but small. The Bulldog Pregame Rush gave students a chance to step away from their everyday school routine, celebrate their school community and share in the excitement of Bulldog pride.
For the volunteers, the event was also an opportunity to give back and connect with students.

“I did this last year, and it’s a great way to give back to the kids and their high, innocent spirit,” said Karley Brazil, representing Collegiate 100. “Seeing how excited they get makes it all worth it.”
The event was made possible through the collaboration of several organizations, including the Bulldogs Dreamers Initiative, Collegiate 100 and Phi Beta Lambda. Their efforts helped create a memorable experience centered on community, service and Bulldog pride.
The Bulldog Pregame Rush may have lasted only a short time, but the energy it brought to MLK Elementary was felt throughout the day. Students left with colorful faces, big smiles and even bigger Bulldog spirit, demonstrating how simple moments of engagement can create memorable experiences.
As students headed into the Labor Day weekend, one thing was clear: Bulldog pride was alive and well at MLK Elementary!
