Students Have Until Sept. 30 to compete for an $8,000 Scholarship

Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Open to AAMU Students
Alabama A&M University students have until Sept. 30 to enter the Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Contest for an opportunity to earn an $8,000 scholarship by sharing the story of someone who has inspired their lives.
Sponsored by Regions Bank, the scholarship contest invites students to submit either a written essay or video about a mentor, family member, teacher or community leader whose encouragement and guidance helped shape their goals and aspirations.
The 2026 Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Contest consists of four quarterly competitions, with four $8,000 scholarships awarded during each contest period. More than $1.5 million in scholarships has been awarded through the program during the past 15 years.
Applicants must be legal U.S. residents of participating states, including Alabama, and at least 16 years old. Students must have at least one year, or 18 semester hours, remaining before completing their undergraduate degree. Applicants must also have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or be in good academic standing. Students who are not yet enrolled in college must begin their freshman year no later than the 2027-28 academic year.
Scholarship funds may be used for undergraduate tuition and other eligible education expenses but cannot be applied to graduate or post-undergraduate programs. Awards must be used by the end of the 2027-28 academic year.
The third-quarter contest deadline is 11:59 p.m. Central on Sept. 30. Regions will announce the winners at the conclusion of the contest period.
“The Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Contest gives students the opportunity to recognize the people who have made a lasting impact on their lives while competing for meaningful scholarship support,” said AAMU Annual Fund Director Kim Davis. “We encourage all eligible students to share their stories and take advantage of this opportunity.”
