Thompson Will Also Pursue Master’s Degree at Alabama A&M University

AAMU ’25 Graduate to Launch Cybersecurity Career at Deloitte
Nia Thompson, a newly minted electrical engineering graduate from Alabama A&M University’s Class of 2025, is preparing for her next chapter as a cybersecurity analyst engineer with Deloitte in her hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. At the same time, she will return to The Hill this fall to begin her master’s degree in computer science with a concentration in cybersecurity.
Thompson, who transferred to Alabama A&M from Calhoun Community College, says the offer from Deloitte came after she was selected to attend the prestigious Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute.
“I will assist the Risk and Financial Advisory Department in keeping their data secure and helping with the strategic planning of mitigating cyber risk,” said Thompson. “Deloitte is one of the Big Four accounting firms and a global leader in consulting, auditing, and advisory services. I’m thrilled to be starting in July.”
Her decision to attend Alabama A&M was fueled by the University’s strong STEM programs and scholarship opportunities. She was awarded a $10,000 Boeing Scholarship in recognition of her academic performance and potential.
Thompson also actively participated in numerous student organizations, including the Gamma Mu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; Eta Kappa Tau Engineering & Technology Fraternity, Incorporated; the AAMU Rise Foundation; Girls Who Code and the Society of Women Engineers (S.W.E.) where she served as Miss S.W.E.
As she embarks on graduate studies and a full-time position, Thompson is also preparing to pursue industry certifications to further enhance her career in cybersecurity. She says her journey reflects the strong foundation Alabama A&M University provides.
“I learned the power of resilience and the importance of building genuine relationships at Alabama A&M,” said Thompson. “Both of those skills have prepared me to navigate challenges and thrive in any professional environment. I'm excited about this new chapter.”
