AAMU Alum Have Key Roles in Huntsville Planning Department
AAMU Joins City of Huntsville for National Community Planning Month
The Department of Community and Regional Planning (DCRP) at Alabama A&M University and the City of Huntsville’s Planning Department are co-sponsoring several activities in celebration of National Community Planning Month.
Mayor Tommy Battle declared October Community Planning Month and presented the proclamation to AAMU alum and Manager of Planning for the City of Huntsville, Thomas Nunez. AAMU DCRP Chair Dr. Deden Rukmana and AAMU alum Lady Franciscar Nicolas-Kassama, Planner III for the City of Huntsville, were also recognized. Kassama and Nunez are alumni of the Master of Urban and Regional Planning program (MURP) at AAMU.
Community Planning Month highlights sound planning and plan implementation contributions to the quality of neighborhoods and the environment and recognizes members of planning commissions and others who have contributed their time and expertise to the improvement of the City of Huntsville.
Upcoming events include displays at the North and South Huntsville Public Librarys and the main library downtown; and a booth at AAMU's High School & Community College Day on November 4 at the Event Center.
