AAMU Program Expanding to Other HBCUs
Applications Open for 1890 LGI Fire Training Program Consortium
The 1890 Land Grant Institution (LGI) Fire Training Program Consortium is now accepting applications for Fire Trainees. The program which got its start at Alabama A&M University 12 years ago to increase the participation of minorities in fire management now includes Florida A&M University, Southern University and Tuskegee University.
All expenses paid program events include:
- Kickoff in Panama City Nov. 10 – 12
- 2-Day Professional Workshop & Drone Symposium hosted at Tuskegee University Feb. 16 – 18
- Wildland Fire Training at AAMU May 28 – June 7, 2024
The program is open to full-time students majoring in forestry, natural resources,
or any science major with at least at 2.5 GPA. Participants receive a $3,500 stipend, travel support to conferences and training events, fire field training and experiential learning, and fire certifications.
