Alumnus Returns to Huntsville with Lead Role in Stage Play

After a successful national tour, Alabama A&M alumnus Ansley Joseph is set to return to Huntsville to star in “Black Couples Therapy: The Stage Play” on Saturday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Von Braun Center (VBC) Playhouse.

Joseph, a Haitian-American actor born and raised in Queens, New York, discovered his passion for acting after relocating to Atlanta in high school. He pursued that passion at Alabama A&M, where he starred in the Bulldog Players' productions of “The Wiz,” “Love/Sick,” “Almost, Maine,” and “Twelfth Night.” Earning a degree in communication arts in 2022, Joseph has since built a versatile acting career, performing in a range of stage plays from contemporary works to Shakespearean classics. He recently made his television debut in the ALLBLK series “Terror Lake Drive.”

In “Black Couples Therapy,” Joseph takes on the role of Tyrell, the lead character. The play, adapted from the novel of the same name, is produced by Tre Productions and directed by its creator, Tre Floyd. The story follows four couples who meet at a group therapy session. Each couple grapples with their unique issues, and the therapist is determined to help them confront and resolve their problems. Ultimately, each couple must decide whether to stay together or part ways.

Joseph is excited about his return to Huntsville and hopes to see some familiar faces from his alma mater. “My time at AAMU was amazing,” says Joseph. “It really prepared me for life after college. I’m excited to be returning to Huntsville as a professional actor. I’m looking forward to seeing my AAMU fam in the audience and showcasing my skills.”

Tickets are available at Von Braun Center Tickets.
