Alabama A&M University Welcomes Distinguished Alumni to 2025 Hall of Fame
As Alabama A&M University continues its 150th Anniversary celebration, four outstanding alumni will be honored during the 2025 Alumni Hall of Fame Induction on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:00 p.m., in T.M. Elmore Gymnasium. Hosted by the Office of Alumni Affairs, this prestigious ceremony recognizes graduates whose lives and careers embody the University’s core values of service, leadership, and excellence.
Minister Jonell Yarbrough Calloway – Business: A 1971 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology, Calloway broke multiple barriers in a 40-year federal career, becoming the first African American in several key roles within the U.S. Army civilian workforce. Later earning a Master of Divinity, she now serves as associate minister at Trinity Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Alongside her husband, she has contributed more than $80,000 to AAMU and helped raise $1 million during her class reunion. Her leadership, generosity, and faith continue to uplift communities and inspire generations.
Dr. Samuel McAlpine – Medicine: A 1971 biology graduate, McAlpine earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College and has served over 40 years as a board-certified physician. He dedicated 23 years to the Veterans Affairs Hospital System, helped shape Medicare policy in California, and now serves as acting assistant chief medical officer for the Rural Health Medical Program, Inc. His legacy includes establishing the Dr. Samuel McAlpine Scholarship to support AAMU students pursuing careers in science and medicine.
Mrs. Pamela McDonald – Community Service: A 1983 electrical engineering graduate, McDonald served 38 years as a Department of Defense software engineer, earning the Department of Defense Commander’s Award and recognition as a Modern Day Technology Leader by BEYA. Beyond her professional success, she has championed student support at AAMU – raising more than $4 million through the 150th Anniversary Campaign and creating multiple scholarship and mentorship opportunities. Her service-driven leadership continues to open doors for future Bulldogs.
Judge Jameria Johnson Moore – Government & Law: A 1990 civil engineering and mathematics graduate, Moore is a trailblazer in both engineering and law. Moore also earned degrees in business, and law, before making history as one of Jefferson County’s first Black probate court judges. Her groundbreaking career includes being the first Black female engineer in several major firms and departments. She remains an active mentor and advocate through community programs, scholarship initiatives, and leadership with the AAMU Magic City Metro Alumni Chapter.
This elegant, formal black-tie celebration will feature an evening of recognition and reflection as Alabama A&M honors these distinguished alumni for their exceptional achievements and contributions. There will also be a guest performance by alumna and America’s Songbird Myrna Clayton.
