Statewide Early Childhood Education Conference to be Held at AAMU

Alabama A&M University Department of Early Childhood Education will welcome educators, administrators, and family service professionals from across the state on Saturday, September 13, 2025, for the Early Childhood Education Conference. The event will be held at Buchanan Hall and will feature a full day of sessions designed to strengthen skills, share best practices, and inspire collaboration among those serving children from birth through third grade.

Organized for principals, center directors, early childhood educators – including daycare, Head Start, and Pre-K through third grade teachers – as well as family service workers, the conference offers a comprehensive lineup of topics tailored to meet the diverse needs of attendees.

Sessions will address pressing issues such as meeting the social and emotional needs of children, using data to improve classroom practices, and implementing effective assessment strategies. Participants will also learn about leadership’s role in ongoing program monitoring, strategies for building strong educational teams, and empowering parents as active partners in their children’s learning.

Family service-focused sessions will explore compliance, recruitment, enrollment, and the vital connection between attendance and healthy child development. Additional workshops will examine ways to achieve exceptional child and family outcomes and maintain robust systems for assessment, referrals, and reporting.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Rhonda Moore-Jackson, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs for Distance Education, Extended Studies, and Instructional Technology and Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at AAMU. With more than two decades of experience in K-16 and post-baccalaureate education, she has served as a teacher, professor, consultant, and academic leader. A Jackson State University alumna, Moore-Jackson has secured more than $3.5 million in grant funding and was named a 2021 Emerging Leaders in Online Learning Fellow by the Online Learning Consortium.

Conference organizers say the event is designed to provide actionable tools and resources that educators can immediately apply in their classrooms and programs. In addition to professional learning, participants will receive lunch with registration, as well as SWAG bags and other materials.
