Fund for Students Facing Short-Term Financial Emergency
AAMU Establishes Student Emergency Fund
The Alabama A&M University Office of Multicultural Affairs has established a Student Emergency Fund program to provide quick-response funds to enrolled students in good academic standing
who face short-term financial emergencies. The goal of the Student Emergency Fund
is to help retain students by providing support in the event of unforeseen challenges.
Although the funds cannot be utilized to satisfy a University bill (e.g. tuition,
fees, fines), funds may be used for other personal expenses (e.g. transportation,
personal health, emergency groceries, basic needs, etc).
“We are thrilled to add the Emergency Fund to the list of programs and resources designated to support student success at Alabama A&M University,” says Dr. Pamela Little, Executive Director of Office of Multicultural Affairs. “We have established a process for any student to request assistance directly and to know that there are resources available to help them continue their program, even in challenging times. We are devoted to serving all students, and now have a way to support students who experience hardships.”
Students may apply for Emergency Funds once per academic year and receive an award of up to $500.
“We appreciate the Office of Multicultural Affairs for recognizing a need among students and for taking steps to provide this critical resource,” says Dr. Braque Talley, Vice President of Student Affairs. “Dr. Little and her team are true champions of student success and I fully support this program.”
Alumni and community members are encouraged to support this effort. To contribute to the Student Emergency Fund, please contact oma@aamu.edu.
